Friday, December 22, 2017

On the Friday News Roundup... recap of the week's stories about Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson… U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was in town this week… and the Queen City has a new planning director. Guest host Erik Spanberg will get into those topics and more with our roundtable of reporters.

On the local news roundup…

Charlotte football fans have been repeatedly hit with bad news regarding Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson over the past week.  First, allegations of harassment, then the news that the team will be up for sale at the end of the season and after that, word that Richardson has stepped back from day-to-day control of the team. We'll discuss how the chain of events is affecting fans, the team, and the city as a whole.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was in town this week, announcing the formation of two new task forces to fight violent crime. We share what we know about how these will take shape in Charlotte.

The County Commission OK's $32 Million for renovations of Memorial Stadium, which will add seats and more to the venue. We'll talk about what commissioners had to say about the improvements.

Campbell's Soup is buying Charlotte-based Snyder's-Lance in a $50 a share, all cash deal. We'll go through the details.

And after 3 years without a permanent planning chief in a growing city, Charlotte now has a new planning director. We’ll talk about what might be first on the list of to-do’s for the new director.

Our roundtable of reporters is set to talk about those stories and more with guest host Erik Spanberg from the Charlotte Business Journal on Charlotte’s Local News Roundup.
