New Outlet Mall On Fast-Track

  The proposed outlet mall for southwest Charlotte is on a fast track to get city and county approval for tax breaks and land-use changes.  The county commission has already approved a gift to the developers of up to $6 million. The city council is poised to do the same. WFAE's Julie Rose explains.

Tanger Factory Outlets and Simon Property Group are in a hurry to start attracting those zealous shoppers who drive for hours to hit the outlet mall.

Outlet Mall Developers Seek Tax Incentives

Developers of a proposed outlet mall in southwest Charlotte want the city and county to pitch in up to $6 million for streets and utilities.  The request goes before the city council Monday night and will be in the Mecklenburg County Commission's hands Tuesday. WFAE's Julie Rose explains:

How New Tanger Outlet In Charlotte Could Benefit Non-Shoppers

Tanger Outlets is building a big, new shopping center in southwest Charlotte. The Greensboro-based retail company said the outlet will bring hundreds of jobs and new tax revenue to the area.

If you’re a shopper, the draw of a new outlet center with about 90 stores is pretty obvious. But what about if you’re not?

Tanger Outlets’ Vice President of Development Charles Worsham said it’ll also bring benefits to southwest Charlotte that go beyond finding that perfect dress, jacket or pair of shoes.
