Four Pounds Of Heroin Seized In Lancaster Co.

The Lancaster County Sherrif's office seized 4 pounds of heroin valued at up to $500,000 from the vehicle of Joseph Chasteen and Cody Howard.

A tip from Charlotte police to Lancaster authorities led to the seizure of four pounds of heroin valued at half a million dollars.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division chief Mark Keel says the high price of opiate-based prescription painkillers like oxycotin is making heroin more popular.

"Unfortunately heroin is coming back. We're starting to see more heroin today. And a lot of that has to do with narcotic drugs or prescription drugs that people are getting taking place for those drugs because prescription drugs can be very expensive."
