Auto Insurance Rates Going Up

Many North Carolina car owners will see their auto insurance rates go up soon, but not nearly as much as insurance companies requested.

 North Carolina has the cheapest auto insurance rates in the country, according to a new national study conducted by insuranceQuotes.com. Laura Adams the senior analyst for the study says the state has a highly competitive market in which insurers vie for customers by trying to keep their rates below the cap set by North Carolina’s insurance commission.

Auto Insurance Bill To Reform Industry Fails House

The House Insurance Committee voted down a bill Tuesday that would have changed how the auto insurance industry makes changes to auto premiums. Currently, auto insurance companies are represented by an agency – the North Carolina Rate Bureau – that files for rate increases on behalf of more than 160 companies each year.
