The Life Of Henry Dumas

Most successful writers are able to have the satisfaction of seeing their work in print, and continue to hone their craft throughout their life—but no Henry Dumas. Most of Dumas’ work was published after his untimely death in 1968, shortly after the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. Henry Dumas’ life in the South of the 1940s and '50s and New York in the '60s influenced his body of literary work, and his tragic death-- under mysterious circumstances-- has now been chronicled by local professor  Dr. Jeffrey Leak. We’ll hear about the life and death of African American literary legend Henry Dumas and why his work is important to the literary world.
