If you ask Dolly Parton, she’ll tell you that the music she and her Nashville colleagues make has its roots in Celtic music. That’s why she wrote the forward to Fiona Ritchie and Doug Orr’s new book, Wayfaring Strangers. It tells the stories of the Scottish troubadours who crossed the sea and began making music in Appalachia which gave rise to bluegrass and country.
