Matisyahu was born Matthew Miller. He was inspired to embrace the strict Lubavitch Hassidic sect of Judaism in part by references to the Old Testament in Reggae music. While in Charlotte for a performance, Matisyahu spoke to WFAE's Marshall Terry about trying to channel the power of prayer into his music, shaving his Hassidic beard, and motorcycle excursions into the country while on tour.
Listen to Matisyahu's acoustic performance of "Sunshine" in the WFAE studios. The song is the first single off his current album Spark Seeker. He also performed "Live Like a Warrior."
