Recounts Thursday morning didn’t change the results of two closely contested General Assembly primaries in the Charlotte area. Republican Charles Jeter of Huntersville and Democrat Rochelle Rivas both are headed to the general election.
Mecklenburg elections officials say a recount confirmed incumbent Jeter’s 35-vote victory over challenger Tom Davis for the Republican nomination in the 92nd House district. Jeter collected 3,731 votes, or 50.2 percent of the total, to Davis’s 3,696 (49.8 percent).
Jeter faces Democrat Chaz Beasley in November. The district runs from Huntersville south to Lake Wylie.
In the Democratic primary in Charlotte’s 103rd District, Rivas beat Noah Lieberman by 13 votes. She’ll face incumbent Republican state Rep. Bill Brawley in November.
Rivas got 3,248 votes (50.1 percent) to Lieberman’s 3,235 (49.9).
