Property Fraud a Growing Concern

We've become more familiar with the threat of identity theft in the U.S. But now officials say property fraud is a growing concern. That's where someone fraudulently records a deed, making it look like they own your home. Then they can use it as collateral on a mortgage - or eve attempt to sell it. Mecklenburg County has started an electronic alert system to let you know when that might be happening to you. WFAE's Julie Rose asked Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Judy Gibson why there are no safegurards in place to prevent property fraud.
