Police are searching for a man they believe gunned down a Charlotte woman near uptown earlier this week.
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's homicide unit are asking for the public's assistance in locating 22-year-old Santario Miller, who is wanted for the murder of Shalamar Venable.
Venable was shot and killed near uptown early Monday morning. Police responded to a call for service in the 900 block of North Tryon Street to a report of assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Venable, 39, with apparent gunshot wounds. Venable was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but died a short time later.
On Monday, police said they believed Venable and the suspected shooter knew each other.
Miller is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Miller's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
