Police have charged a man with murder after a woman was found dead in a motel room in south Charlotte Saturday afternoon.
According to a CMPD press release, officers were first called to the 300 block of Archdale Drive around 3 p.m. Saturday to investigate a reported overdose. Police found Jameriane Ardrey, 40, unresponsive with “physical signs of injuries” inside the room. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Brewer, 41, who police said was at the scene when they arrived, has been charged with murder. According to police, Brewer and Ardrey were in a dating relationship. CMPD said there was evidence of a physical altercation at the motel, but haven’t said how Ardrey was killed.
Brewer is currently in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
