Two men who escaped from a minimum security prison in Richmond County are back in custody after nearly a week on the loose.
Police arrested 22-year-old Frankie Noles Saturday afternoon near Marion. Twenty-year-old Jacob Pilkington was arrested the day before. North Carolina corrections officials say the two escaped by climbing out of a window and then jumping a fence.
Prison officials say both men entered prison in September and were serving short sentences for probation violations that had them scheduled for release next year. The two men now face felony escape charges.
Fayetteville's First Gun Buyback Program So Successful IOUs Were Issued
The first ever gun buyback program in Fayetteville was held over the weekend. It was so successful that city officials had to start issuing IOU’s. Police were offering a $200 gift card for each handgun or assault style weapon turned in. And a $150 gift card for each rifle or shotgun.
The Fayetteville Observer reports police collected some 250 weapons, gave out $30,000 in gift cards and $20,000 in IOU’s – meaning the gift cards could be picked up later or would be put in the mail.

A six term member of the North Carolina House has been nominated to replace Speaker Thom Tillis. Tim Moore, an attorney from Kings Mountain, was selected over five other candidates this weekend by a group of Republicans. House Republicans will vote for a new speaker and other leaders in January.
Good News At The Pump In Time For Thanksgiving
The average price of gas in North Carolina over the weekend was $2.77 according to AAA Carolinas. It’s cheaper than Thanksgiving last year when the average price was $3.23. But cheep gas may be leading to more cars on the road. AAA says about 1.3 million North Carolina residents are expected to travel this Thanksgiving holiday, up from last year.
