The North Carolina Board of Elections is investigating former Gov. Mike Easley in response to reporting in the Raleigh News & Observer. In a series called Executive Privilege, the newspaper reports that Easley received extensive flight benefits from supporters and didn't report them in campaign and ethics disclosure reports. As governor, Easley appointed these supporters to key state boards. Andy Curliss filed these reports. He tells WFAE's Scott Graf that he first became suspicious when Easley refused to release travel records while he was governor. The newspaper also focuses on a bargain price Easley received for a waterfront lot with the help of one of these supporters who flew him around. Update: The FBI has subpoenaed former Gov.
