Cokie Roberts & Our 'Founding Mothers'

HarperCollins

In school, we learned all about the Founding Fathers, the men whose names we all know - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin. But NPR's Cokie Roberts wants us to remember the ladies. She's the author of Founding Mothers, which recounts the amazing accomplishments of the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters behind the scenes of the Revolution - Abigail Adams, Dolley Madison, Martha Washington and other lesser-known women who helped shape our early nation. These women not only watched over the home front under often dire circumstances, but they also ran farms and business, raised money for the troops - even fighting on the front lines of battle and acting as spies.

Guest
Cokie Roberts - Veteran journalist, political commentator for NPR and ABC News and bestselling author of many books including We Are Our Mothers' Daughters, Ladies of Liberty and From This Day Forward, written with her husband Steve Roberts. Her most recent is Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies, an illustrated children's book based on her 2004 adult book, Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation.
