Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools is beginning the process of finding a new superintendent. School board members spent the afternoon interviewing search firms. Five are in the running including the firm that brought former superintendent Peter Gorman to the district. The companies' fees range from $30,000 to $75,000. Board members asked them how they would deal with working for a school board whose members and possibly ideology could switch after the election in November. The board hopes to identify the top three candidates in January and choose one in February.
