CMPD is investigating what officers believe was a murder-suicide in the University City area early Friday morning. The department says officers responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. at a home off Back Creek Church Road, and found one adult male and one adult female with apparent gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
CMPD has identified the two as 51-year-old Maurice Hunter and his wife, 50-year-old Suprena Hunter. According to the department's initial investigation, Maurice Hunter shot his wife and then committed suicide. The department says Maurice Hunter also attempted to shoot at least one other family member in the house. No one else was hurt.
