Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in northwest Charlotte yesterday afternoon. CMPD says officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound while responding to a call of assault with a deadly weapon around 5 p.m. on Windy Valley Drive. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. There have now been 60 homicides in Charlotte so far this year. There were 37 at this time last year.
