While Charlotte was going about planting its iconic trees, the seeds of the American conservation movement were being planted just up the road in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate. A German forester, Carl Schenck, was hired to manage the forest surrounding the stately home. That work is the focus of a film, America’s First Forest, which is being screened next week in Charlotte. We’ll speak with the executive producer of the film.
