CHA Tries To Evict Resident Commissioner

A resident member of the Charlotte Housing Authority is facing eviction. Lucille Puckett has served on the CHA commission since last December. CHA spokeswoman Deborah Clark says the agency began eviction proceedings against Puckett because she met with someone at her home in Dillehay Courts who was banned from CHA properties. "This is the same policy that we would use for any resident. We are not giving her any special consideration," says Clark. WFAE could not reach Puckett. WCNC reports she has admitted to meeting several times with a man who was banned from CHA properties after being convicted of a misdemeanor for possessing marijuana. Puckett told the station the CHA is getting back at her for trying to get people off the banned persons list. Puckett refers to herself as the mother of Dillehay Courts in uptown Charlotte and says she was mentoring the man.
