UNC School of the Arts in Winston Salem has received a warning from the group that accredits Southern universities. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or SACS says the School of the Arts has failed to provide proof that it has enough faculty to serve its students, that it’s improving its educational programs, and that it tracks student’s academic performance. The warning doesn’t go into details, but the association plans to release a follow-up report later this month.
The school’s Interim Chancellor David Nelson says the college is committed to resolving these issues. Twelve other colleges and universities in the Southeast have received warnings this year from SACS.
