19 candidates running for CMS board seats

This November, all six district seats on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School board are up for election. And all but one are contested in races involving 19 candidates, overall. In one race, nine candiates are on the ballot. WFAE's Simone Orendain has more.

Some CMS watchers say it's been hard to fill the shoes of former long-time school board member-turned county commissioner George Dunlap.  That may be why nine candidates, including appointee James Ross, are vying for the District Three seat.  To be sure this district is challenged with a strong concentration of struggling schools.

The rest of the district races have three or fewer candidates.

It can be hard to keep track of all of them.  But you can learn where they stand on the issues through this link to video bios.  The League of Women Voters, Mecklenburg Citizens for Public Education and WTVI public television produced the segments.
