Residents of the Unifour area tune in to their favorite NPR and PRI programming by setting their radio dial to WFHE 90.3fm, sister station to WFAE 90.7fm in Charlotte. At WFHE 90.3fm, public radio fans in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties hear the award-winning news and entertainment programming mix that includes favorites such as Car Talk, Morning Edition, All Things Considered and A Prairie Home Companion.

Like its sister station, WFHE 90.3fm sponsors a variety of community activities -- book signings, open houses and other events that appeal to our more than 750 members in the Unifour area.

Our signal has been strong in the Catawba Valley since WFHE's transmitter and tower were constructed in 1995, thanks in part to federal funding from the government to WFAE. And our commitment to the region continues. Check out our Hickory-based tower if you want to see how serious we are about transmitting the best selection of public radio programming. Our 4,000-watt tower is Class C3 -- a high-powered designation. And because of its height -- it's a 500-foot tower standing on a 1,200-foot hill -- the tower is energy efficient.
