More on WFAE2

"We're pleased that WFAE is leading the region and the country with the introduction of this new technology," said Roger Sarow, president and general manager.  "HD Radio will revolutionize the industry."

HD Radio provides for programming diversity and more choice for radio listeners while providing digital sound quality, clarity and reception.  No subscription is required to hear HD digital radio broadcasts.

WFAE's HD2 digital channel features the Triple-A (adult album alternative) format called XPoNential Radio, which showcases an eclectic blend of blues, rock, world, folk and alternative country.  Artists on XPoNential Radio include Neil Young, Jack Johnson, Shawn Colvin and more.

"I'm really excited that we can offer the Charlotte region one of public radio's hottest contemporary music formats 24/7 with clear digital sound," said Paul Stribling, program director.

If you don't have an HD digital radio receiver yet, you can catch XPoNential online here.

HD digital radio technology improves the quality and quantity of radio signals.  WFAE has been broadcasting its primary signal in digital since spring 2005 and was the first station in the Charlotte region and the first public radio station in North Carolina to use this cutting-edge technology.  WFAE was also the first station in the nation to test dividing its digital broadcast signal into multiple channels.
