WFAE First Radio Station in Charlotte to Use HD Radio^TM  Technology

In April 2005, WFAE became the first radio station in Charlotte to broadcast using HD Radio^TM  technology.

What is HD Radio^TM  technology? Have you wished you could get the same clarity of sound from your radio as you do from your CD? Now you can. HD Radio^TM  technology is destined to revolutionize the radio industry. Approved by the FCC as the digital broadcast system for the radio industry, the noise and interference that cause the static, hiss, pops and fades heard on today's analog radios will be virtually eliminated with HD Radio^TM  digital broadcasting. It also creates the ability to divide the digital bandwidth into multiple audio streams, without significant loss of audio quality.

How can I hear WFAE's broadcast in HD Radio^TM  Technology? To hear WFAE in its purest digital form, you will need a special HD Radio^TM  receiver for either your car or home audio system.

The good news is that WFAE will remain on the same dial position (90.7) and you can still hear WFAE with your current analog radio. But if you have a new HD Radio^TM  receiver you will hear us in our new digital format.
