Bank of America misses congressional committee deadline

Bank of America has missed a deadline to handover documents to a Congressional committee regarding the bank's purchase of the troubled brokerage Merrill Lynch.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform gave Bank of America until noon today to turn over records that include all legal advice leading up to the bank's purchase of Merrill Lynch. The committee asked for materials that would shed light on what the bank did or did not tell shareholders about Merrill's mounting losses.

Hopes for a new uptown baseball stadium seem to be fading for the Charlotte Knights. WFAE's Julie Rose reports:

York County owns the land and stadium where the Charlotte Knight's have played in Fort Mill for 20 years. That lease is up this year and today was the deadline York County gave the Knights to step to the plate on a new longer-term lease.

Muslims all over the world are celebrating Eid al Fitr today to mark the end of Ramadan. This holy month of fasting is a cornerstone of the Muslim faith. It's a time for the faithful to dig deeper into their spiritual lives. And in Charlotte, it's a time to reach out to non-Muslims. WFAE's Simone Orendain attended a Ramadan open house in the Charlotte area and learned a little more about Islam and its Muslim followers. She prepared this profile.
