Charlotte Moral Monday Focuses On Voting

Organizers estimated more than 2,500 showed up for Charlotte's Moral Monday rally in Marshall Park on August 19.

The state's chapter of the NAACP has been leading weekly protests in Raleigh called Moral Monday.

It's a movement led by clergy members that's now on a state-wide tour and made its latest stop in Charlotte Monday night.

Governor McCrory Signs Voter Photo ID Bill Into Law

Governor Pat McCrory released a video on Monday explaining his decision to sign the voter photo ID bill into law.

Governor Pat McCrory signed the sweeping Voter Photo ID bill into law Monday. Starting in 2016, most state residents will be required to bring a photo ID with them to the polls. It also makes other changes to the voting process – including getting rid of automatic straight-party voting.

GOP-Hired Company Also Suspected Of Faking Registrations In Mecklenburg

North Carolina election officials are asking counties to double check their voting registrations. That comes after Mecklenburg County found questionable registrations turned in by Strategic Allied Consulting, the company hired by the Republican Party and accused of submitting fake registrations in Florida.

The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections caught wind of some fishy registrations two weeks ago.
