Palestinians Celebrate Culture Through Dabke Dance

A flavor of Palestinian culture was on stage last weekend at Queen University.  A dozen dancers from the Palestinian territories and Jordan were in Charlotte to perform a traditional folk dance called dabke. The performance was part of an eight-city U.S. tour.

Pen Pals Just Two Miles Away Meet For The First Time

Wesley Baxter Jr., a first grader at Park Road Montessori was pen pals with Steven Ambrocio Lopez, a third grader at Sedgefield Elementary in south Charlotte.

Perhaps you've had a pen pal as a kid. Chances are it was someone who lives far away. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools SchoolMates program has a pen pal program among its own schools. In one case, students from schools less than two miles apart wrote letters to each other throughout the school year. Wednesday, they got to meet each other for the first time.
