Long Road Ahead For Oil Drilling Off-Shore North Carolina

The Obama administration is proposing to offer leases in this section of the Atlantic to oil and gas companies for drilling.

The Obama administration has released its latest plan for oil and gas drilling off-shore the United States. It excludes restricts Alaska, but opens up parts of the Atlantic Ocean, including off the coast of North Carolina.

Obama's Address Shows No Worries About Next Election

Just two months ago, President Obama and the Democrats suffered a sixth-year shellacking, with Republicans picking up large numbers in both congressional chambers.

Imagine the surprise, then, on both sides of the political aisle when a freed president came into his penultimate State of the Union address and pronounced what may have been the most liberal statement of values of his presidency.

CPCC President Hopes Obama's Community College Tuition Plan Becomes A Reality

President Obama Friday proposed a plan that would provide tuition assistance to community college students. All students who are enrolled at least part-time and who maintain at least a 2 .5 GPA would qualify. The White House hasn’t released many details.

North Carolina Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, a former community college president, calls it the "wrong approach for the federal government to take."

The idea has support, though, from Central Piedmont Community College president Tony Zeiss.  He spoke to WFAE's Duncan McFadyen.

Obama Immigration Speech Met With Tears And Questions In Charlotte

The crowd, at first, was eager. Members of Charlotte’s Hispanic community gathered Thursday night to watch President Obama announce changes in the enforcement to America’s immigration laws. As for the mood after the speech? That varied from person to person.

To say the room at the Latin American Coalition was packed is an understatement. Around 75 people poured in. Those who could, sat in chairs, others stood where they could or sat on the floor near the screen where the president’s speech would be projected.

Obama Issues 19 Executive Actions To Help Veterans

President Obama announced he will sign 19 executive actions at the American Legion national convention in Charlotte.

As expected, President Barack Obama addressed problems in the Department of Veterans Affairs and a number of other issues concerning care for veterans.

He also addressed foreign policy. The president reiterated he will not send soldiers and marines back to Iraq to fight extremists known as the Islamic State.

"American combat troops will not be returning to fight in Iraq. We’ll not allow the United State to be dragged back into another ground war in Iraq. Because ultimately it is up to the Iraqis to bridge their differences and secure themselves."

President Obama Announces Executive Actions To Fix VA Hospitals

President Barack Obama was in Charlotte today to introduce the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald and to announce that he will sign 19 new executive actions to help veterans. He spoke to a packed hall of veterans with the American Legion at the Charlotte Convention Center during their national conference.

Obama Promises Retaliation Against ISIL For Slain American Journalist
