A federal grand jury Wednesday indicted alleged gang members on racketeering and murder charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says six members of the United Blood Nation gang played a role in the murder of Lake Wylie couple in October to prevent the husband from testifying against gang members in a robbery case.

The indictment names 12 people as members of the United Blood Nation gang. All are charged with racketeering, and six are charged in the murder of Doug and Debbie London.

So far, there have been 58 homicides in Charlotte. And we don’t usually hear much about the people and memories they leave behind. WFAE's Tasnim Shamma tells us a little more about the life of a 24-year-old Charlottean murdered last summer.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested five teenagers early Tuesday morning in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in Northeast Mecklenburg County on Sunday night.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say that trouble started on Saturday. Five teenagers believed 17-year-old Kydaryune “K.C.” Curry disrespected them in front of a girl.

The Charlotte Observer spoke to Curry’s mother, Benita Turner. She told the Observer the girl was a friend of Curry’s. Curry and a friend were at the girl’s house on Saturday when one of the teens later charged with his murder arrived.
