Kinsey Hands Mayor's Gavel To Cannon Monday

Democrat Patrick Cannon will be sworn in at the Charlotte City Council meeting Monday night, along with other members of the new council. Cannon takes over from Mayor Patsy Kinsey, who will chair her final meeting Monday night.

Small Businessman Maddalon Joins Charlotte City Council

Billy Maddalon was chosen by the Charlotte City Council to fill the District 1 seat vacated by Patsy Kinsey, who is serving as interim mayor.

Billy Maddalon, owner of The Morehead Inn in Dilworth,  has been chosen to fill the city council seat vacated by Patsy Kinsey who is temporarily serving as Charlotte Mayor.  Maddalon is a native of Charlotte and a self-described "centrist Democrat."

"You know the shop's on fire," says Maddalon.  "There's just so many really important issues in front of our community and my goal would be to get up to speed as quickly as possible and become a contributor on city council in the four very short months I'll have to do that."

Charlotte Says 'No Thanks' To Lawmakers' Airport Compromise

Charlotte Mayor Patsy Kinsey has rejected the latest offer from NC lawmakers over Charlotte airport authority legislation.

Charlotte City officials have rejected an offer of compromise from state lawmakers over the future of the Charlotte airport.  As a result, legislators say they'll renew their push to create an airport authority this week.
