A federal jury convicted 59-year-old Charlotte resident Jose Antonio Hendricks of possession, receipt and transportation of child pornography, following a two-day trial. The charges for transportation and receipt of child pornography carry a sentence of five to 20 years, and the charges for possessing and accessing child pornography carry a maximum sentence of 20 years. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Law enforcement officers from the Carolinas and other states filled row after row of pews at Charlotte's Calvary Church on Monday, as they paid tribute to York County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Doty. He was killed in the line of duty last week. 

Bills Would Ban Police From Accepting "Community IDs"

Police in North Carolina have been accepting what is called a community ID from people who are in the country illegally and others who don’t have the proper documentation to get a state-issued one. Two bills in the state legislature would stop that practice. Law enforcement groups aren’t happy about that.

Nine People Indicted In Kidnapping Of Wake Forest Man

All eight suspects involved in the kidnapping of a man from his home near Raleigh and taken to Atlanta are now in custody after being indicted by a grand jury on federal kidnapping charges.  

FBI agents say the victim was held hostage for five days in hopes that his daughter would help an inmate that she prosecuted.

A man who was kidnapped from his home in Wake Forest, North Carolina last week and taken to Atlanta, was rescued around midnight on Wednesday by FBI agents. 

The FBI says they believe he was held hostage for five days in hopes that his daughter would help an inmate that she prosecuted.

City of Chester

A Chester City Council member was arrested Wednesday night and charged with two counts of threatening the life of a public official.

Odell Williams, who is 70 and African American, used racial slurs against the Chester City Police Chief Andre Williams and Assistant Police Chief Gene Gilmore, both of whom are also African-American, according to the arrest warrant.  The warrant says he met them in the Chester City Hall restroom after a council meeting on March 10.
