Patrick Cannon Sentenced To 44 Months In Federal Prison

Cannon was released on bond after his sentencing hearing. He was represented by attorneys Henderson Hill and James Ferguson.

This morning, Patrick Cannon walked into the Federal Courthouse Uptown and was sentenced to 44 months in prison and ordered to pay more than $50,000 in restitution and a $10,000 fine. The former Charlotte mayor pleaded guilty earlier this year to taking more than $50,000 in bribes from undercover FBI agents. WFAE’s Tom Bullock was in the courtroom.

Federal Sex Trafficking Case To Begin In Charlotte

 A large sex-trafficking case goes to trial this week. Federal prosecutors say a Charlotte man ran a prostitution ring that involved at least a dozen girls between the ages of 16 and 25. The girls didn’t walk the streets. Instead, prosecutors say they were marketed through the web site Backpage.com.

Parents of Missing Teen Erica Parsons Arrested On Tax Fraud Charges

The Rowan County Sheriff's office announced Wednesday it was doubling its reward for locating Erica Parsons to $20,000. The FBI announced a $25,000 reward in January. A local advocacy group, Prevent Child Abuse Rowan, is offering $5,000, bringing the total reward to $50,000.

Exactly one year after Rowan County teen Erica Parsons was reported missing by her brother, her adoptive parents appeared in federal court Wednesday to face charges of Social Security and Medicaid fraud.

Nine People Indicted In Kidnapping Of Wake Forest Man

All eight suspects involved in the kidnapping of a man from his home near Raleigh and taken to Atlanta are now in custody after being indicted by a grand jury on federal kidnapping charges.  

FBI agents say the victim was held hostage for five days in hopes that his daughter would help an inmate that she prosecuted.

Kidnapping Victim From North Carolina Rescued By FBI In Atlanta

A man who was kidnapped from his home in Wake Forest, North Carolina last week and taken to Atlanta, was rescued around midnight on Wednesday by FBI agents. 

The FBI says they believe he was held hostage for five days in hopes that his daughter would help an inmate that she prosecuted.
