House Bill 2 was back in the news this week - with decisions by both the NCAA and ACC to pull championship games from the state because of the law. We start this week's discussion looking at the potential impact of those decisions on the election. Then we look at the lieutenant governor's race.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest helped call the special session that passed HB 2.

And the Republican remains an unflinching proponent of the law. On Tuesday night he debated Linda Coleman, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.


The North Carolina Board of Education got some notice this week for something it didn’t do. The board decided to delay forwarding a report on charter schools to state lawmakers. WFAE’s Lisa Worf joins All Things Considered host Mark Rumsey in the studio to discuss.

You may have heard the governor released a plan Wednesday for boosting teacher pay. But there was a second teacher pay announcement by Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest. His proposal would give people the chance to pay for higher teacher salaries, not through their taxes, but through donations.
