Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party Dallas Woodhouse had to issue a mea culpa over the weekend. It came after he tweeted an offensive article calling transgender students "pervs" and "mentally ill."

If you want to hunt for voter fraud, come to North Carolina. Not because there's so much evidence of it here, but because after November's election the hunt for it was so intense. And that's exactly what This American Life's Zoe Chace did in a recent episode. Her focus: Bladen County. 

Firefighters say the Party Rock Wildfire near Chimney Rock and Lake Lure has been fully contained, thanks in part to 0.4 inches of rain that fell Monday night through Tuesday. Firefighting crews have begun packing up and dismantling their fire camps Tuesday morning as they head for home.

What started as a social media spat over email access has morphed into something more. Late Sunday night, the Central Committee of North Carolina’s Republican Party announced a no-confidence vote in its Chairman Hasan Harnett. They also passed emergency restrictions on Harnett’s duties pending an investigation.

A national watchdog group has filed complaints with the IRS and the Federal Election Commission claiming a North Carolina nonprofit broke campaign finance laws during the 2014 election. That nonprofit was headed by the current executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party.
