North Carolina native and comedian Clifton Cash is tired of well-worn redneck jokes and how easily comedians in and out of the south use the region as the butt of jokes.

The Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour, comprised of three comedians (Clifton Cash, Stewart Huff, and Tom Simmons) all from the south, are out to provide something different…what Cash calls progressive, witty commentary about the south, by southerners.

WFAE’s Sarah Delia spoke to Cash before his show in Charlotte which is Wednesday night at the Comedy Zone.

Marc Maron has been doing comedy for over two decades, be it standup, on the radio, or television specials. But his popularity has really taken flight over the last several years with his twice-weekly podcast called “WTF with Marc Maron,” which has reached number one on the iTunes comedy section multiple times, and his current television show on IFC called “Maron.” He will be performing in Charlotte at the Comedy Zone for three nights starting tonight, and he joined us this morning.

Comedian Rob Schneider is probably best known for his characters on Saturday Night Live like the Copy Machine Guy, or from movies like Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, but he got his start in stand-up comedy, and he has recently returned to his roots. He’ll be performing at The Comedy Zone this weekend  in Charlotte. He spoke to WFAE's Kevin Kniestedt.

Comedian Paula Poundstone Makes The Audience The Show

Apr 11, 2014

Comedian Paula Poundstone doesn’t just entertain audiences with her stand-up comedy, she includes them. Her routines are often off the cuff and spend a good deal of time interacting with the crowd. She can regularly be heard on NPR’s Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me, tonight she will be at Wingate University, and she joined us this morning.

Mike Birbiglia is known as a comedian who tells personal, embarrassing stories. He became a public radio listener favorite when he told his funny but true story about dealing with sleepwalking on This American Life, which has since been made into a movie. He’ll be performing his new act, Thank God for Jokes, at the Knight Theater on March 29th and he joins us today.
