World Cup Cocktails

Now that we have finally reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, the finalists will be determined this week, and we should all be prepared to plan our drinking accordingly. The countries that remain vying for soccer supremacy are Brazil, Germany, Argentina, and the Netherlands. All of these countries have their own drinking culture, and here with a few easy-to-make cocktails, we will give you a quick taste of each.

Davidson College Announces On-Campus Pub And Coffeehouse

The Summit Coffee is run by two Davidson alums and brothers Tim and Brian Helfrich, Class of 2000 and 2007, respectively. A second branch, still unnamed, will be opening on Davidson's campus with a full-kitchen, this fall.

This fall, draft beer and wine will be served on the campus of Davidson College.  Students and administrators say it will provide a safe drinking environment for students, faculty and staff.

Lancaster Will Vote On Sunday Alcohol Restaurant Sales

Lancaster County residents will vote next week on whether to allow restaurants to serve alcohol on Sundays.

There are only about 100 restaurants in all of Lancaster County, South Carolina. That's not a lot and some  residents say they routinely cross county and state borders to get some breakfast or lunch. It's tied to the state's prohibition on restaurants serving alcohol on Sundays. Next week, residents will vote on whether to allow restaurants serve alcohol on Sundays.

The effort has been led Elissa Boyet. She didn’t know about the prohibition when she moved from Charlotte to Lancaster County in 2008.
