One Valentine’s Day evening, my husband and I were dining at an elegant and expensive area restaurant. The room was small and we couldn’t help overhearing the loud guy at the next table talking to his date. Her responses were inaudible. After spending two courses showering her with enough snow to fill a ski run, he said: “I love her as a friend and as the mother of my children, but not like I love you.” I briefly considered dumping my water glass on his date, dragging her to the ladies room and telling her to run.
