Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a woman was arrested this morning in southwest Charlotte after she fired at officers.
Police officers were responding to a call about a woman who was threatening to “shoot up” a Cook Out restaurant. CMPD says the officers found the woman, later identified as 20-year-old Mikayla Avent, at the intersection of Tryon and Westinghouse and that she fired her gun at least twice during a foot chase.
The officers arrested Avent without firing their weapons. No one was injured.
Avent was charged with assault by pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing a public officer, discharging a firearm in city limits, and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
Officers on the scene recovered a shell casing and the woman's firearm.
