Wake Forest's President Was Highest Paid In the Country

Wake Forest University President Nathan Hatch was paid $4,004,617 in 2015.

Wake Forest University President Nathan Hatch received $4,004,617 in 2015, making him the most highly compensated university president in the country that year. 

That's according to data released by the Chronicle of Higher Education. His compensation included a payment of $2.89 million as a perk for leading the school for ten years. His base salary is $839,944.

Head of the university’s governing board Donna Boswell saysHatch’s compensation “over the course of his tenure reflects his exceptional leadership and has paid dividends for the University.” She said he’s helped lead a $795 million fundraising effort. In 2014, Hatch’s total compensation was $1,084,511.

In 2015, two other presidents from North Carolina were paid more than $1 million. Duke University’s Richard Brodhead received $1,257,980 and High Point University’s Nido Qubein was paid $1,080,026.  

Lisa Worf traded the Midwest for Charlotte in 2006 to take a job at WFAE. She worked with public TV in Detroit and taught English in Austria before making her way to radio. Lisa graduated from University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in English.
