We know that college sports bring in big money for many schools and can be boon to their bottom line but who pays the tab for these expensive programs?  At many institutions, student fees largely subsidize athletics and we’re talking BIG money here, about $10 billion in student fees in the last five years.  Are students getting a return on that investment?  We talk to two local athletic directors about that.

Guests
Judy Rose – athletic director at UNC Charlotte

Jim Murphy – athletic director at Davidson College

Andre Springs – athletic director and golf coach at Livingstone College (Livingstone College’s Men’s and Women’s basketball teams are competing in the CIAA this week in Charlotte.)

Brad Wolverton– senior writer, The Chronicle of Higher Education
