A Mecklenburg County Superior Court judge has dismissed another lawsuit by a Charlotte real estate attorney who opposes a proposed minor league baseball stadium uptown. WFAE's Simone Orendain has more: This was the fifth lawsuit attorney Jerry Reese filed against Mecklenburg County. They've all challenged the county on how it's handled parcels of land tied to a planned site of a new Charlotte Knights stadium. The Knights now play in Fort Mill. In this suit, Reese contended the county did not follow procedures in its contract to sell property in Second Ward to Brooklyn Village. Mecklenburg Superior Court Judge David Lee said Reese's claims were already decided in his prior suits and any additional issues should have been addressed in those. Reese says Lee didn't bother to study the merits of his suit. But he isn't deterred. "I have no choice but to appeal to get those authorities in front of the Court of Appeals, so that they can make their own determination about the appropriateness judge's order yesterday," he says. Reese would not say whether he's going to file another lawsuit, but he says it's a possibility. Since talk of a Knights Stadium coming to Charlotte began five years ago, Reese, a real estate attorney, has contended the city needs major league baseball not minor league. But efforts to get the new Knights stadium built are stalled because of the economic downturn.
