(04/05/06) An officer who was shot in the head today while serving a warrant is out of surgery and doing well, a Charlotte city spokeswoman says. Doctors at CMC say 37-year-old Officer Kavan Hazrati is in serious, but stable condition. Doctors were successfully able to remove the bullet. The shooting happened late this morning on Norcroft Drive off W.T. Harris Boulevard in the Mallard Creek/University Research Park area. Police say the suspect is barricaded inside his home and apparently holding his brother against his will. W.T. Harris remains closed between Mallard Creek Rd. and Sugar Creek Rd. in the University area.
