Two Arrested In Shooting Death Of 14-Year-Old Girl

Jun 12, 2018

Tips from community members led Chester County deputies to arrest two people in connection to the murder of a 14-year-old girl.

Police said Jada Jones was hit by gunfire during a drive-by shooting Sunday night at a home on Pinckney Road.

At a press conference Monday captured by WSOC-TV, Chester County Sherriff Alex Underwood said he believes the shooter was targeting someone else – and that the shooting was gang-related. He says the area has a history of not talking to the department about these types of crimes, but this time was different.

“Believe it or not, I guess last night people decided to start talking," Underwood said. "You know they saw what happened, they saw this young lady get shot and they started talking."

Raphael Carter, 31, has been charged with murder and Hezekiah Tinsley, 19, is charged with accessory after the fact. Both Carter and Tinsley were denied bail.
