The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police department, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and a host of other local and national authorities, have released a transportation plan for uptown Charlotte for the days leading up to and during the Democratic National Convention. To say that the plan of closures, restrictions and checkpoints will affect the residents and businesses uptown could be a major understatement. We’ll study the plan and also talk to some folks who work with business owners in the uptown community about how they plan to cope with the changes the convention is sure to bring.
