A 71-year-old woman died in a rollover crash on Harris Boulevard Saturday, and Charlotte Mecklenburg police say the car’s driver may have a had a medical episode just before she lost control. Meanwhile, the FBI and Mooresville police put out an alert seeking help finding a 16-year-old girl (photo) who hasn’t been seen since Wednesday. She was found safe Sunday night. And in Winston-Salem, police are under pressure to release officers’ body cams after a black man died while in police custody last week.
DRIVER ILLNESS MAY HAVE LED TO FATAL CRASH
Police say a driver had some kind of medical episode just before a crash in Northeast Charlotte Saturday afternoon that killed her 71-year-old passenger. Angel Adams was driving east on Harris Boulevard near University City Boulevard around 2:52 PM when she lost control. The 2014 Honda Accord struck another car and then flipped several times. Passenger Betty Adams was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car. She died at the scene. The driver and a teenaged passenger were treated for minor injuries. Police said they were wearing seatbelts. The second driver was not hurt.
FBI AND POLICE SEARCH FOR MOORESVILLE GIRL
The FBI and police are looking for a 16-year-old Mooresville girl who has been missing since last week. Elisabeth Danielle Mayo hasn’t been heard from since early Wednesday morning. An FBI alert says she was last seen wearing black stretch pants with white print, a gray or pink zip-up hoody, and a black "beanie"-style hat. She has red hair, shaved on the right side and long on the left.
On Sunday afternoon, the FBI said it had new information the girl may be in Georgia, possibly in the Clayton or Atlanta areas.
Then Sunday night, the FBI said the girl had been found safe.
The FBI was planning to put up billboards in the Charlotte area and in Atlanta as part of the search. Anyone with information should call the FBI in Charlotte at 704-672-6100, or Mooresville Police at 704-664-3311.

QUESTIONS RAISED ABOUT MAN’S DEATH IN WINSTON-SALEM
Winston-Salem leaders and ministers are demanding more information about the death of a black man in police custody, including footage from the officers' body cameras. The Ministers' Conference of Winston-Salem and Vicinity wants prosecutors to release video related to the death Wednesday of 31-year-old Travis Nevelle. The Winston-Salem Journal reports that police said Page died after an officer used pepper spray to subdue him following a struggle. They were arresting him after receiving a report of shots fired. City manager Lee Garrity and Mayor Allen Joines also called for the video’s release. Prosecutors say it’s part of a criminal investigation and is not public record. The four white officers involved in the arrest have been put on administrative leave.
MYRTLE BEACH INSTALLING SECURITY CAMS
In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the last of more than 800 surveillance cameras will be installed by the end of this month. The Sun-News of Myrtle Beach reports the city is spending more than $2 million on the project, which began in March. In may, 132 cameras were placed along Ocean Boulevard. Now, hundreds more cameras are being added at busy intersections where many car crashes happen. The cameras won’t be used to issue speeding tickets.
SCHOOL BOARD BEGINS REDISTRICTING PROCESS
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools will be asking parents for their thoughts soon on a major re-drawing of school boundaries. School board members are still trying to decide on the process for the redistricting, last week debating whether it’s possible to reduce concentrations of poverty at schools while protecting those schools that are doing well. Board members agreed they need to find a way to break up clusters of poverty that make it harder for students to succeed. The redistricting could mean big changes for local public school students. SPORTS: PANTHERS SEEK WIN NO. 13
The Carolina Panthers play Atlanta Sunday as they try to stay undefeated. Kickoff is 1 o’clock at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers have won 12 straight since the season started.
Another winning streak came to an end last night. The NBA’s Golden State Warriors lost 108 to 95 at Milwaukee. Charlotte native and former Davidson College star Stephen Curry had 28 points as the Warriors ended their 28-game streak.
Also, the Boston Celtics ended Charlotte’s four-game winning streak, beating the Hornets 98 to 93.

- The No. 3 ranked North Carolina Tarheels men’s basketball team lost to Texas, 84 to 82, on a last-second shot by the Longhorns’ Javan Felix.
- Davidson beat Western Carolina, 87 to 54
- Mallard Creek beat Greensboro's Page High, 49-6, for its third straight NC 4AA high school football title. Charlotte Catholic won the NC 4A title, beating Rose of Greenville, 27-20. Crest beat Southern Durham, 55-21, for the 3AA title and Rocky Mount edged South Point, 24-21, in overtime for the 3A crown. Monroe beat Bunn, 38-19, for the 2AA title.
- Clemson’s football team isn’t the only one playing for a national title this fall. The men’s soccer team is in Kansas City today for the NCAA Division 1 soccer championship game against Stanford. Stanford is coached by former Charlotte 49ers coach Jeremy Gunn. Game time is 2pm.
