Visitors to several South Carolina state parks this summer will find a surprising new amenity to the trails and campgrounds. Free wireless internet access is now available at South Carolina State Parks and Director Phil Gaines says more will be connected soon. South Carolina joins 27 other states currently offering wireless in at least one state park, according to a recent survey by USA Today. Gaines spoke with WFAE's Julie Rose about the irony in offering internet access where people usually go to escape. Free wireless internet access is now available in and around the ranger station at Myrtle Beach State Park, in and around the park store at Devils Fork State Park, in and around the Visitors Center on S.C. 11 at Table Rock State Park, in and around the office at Santee State Park, at the Drummond Conference Center at Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area, and at Hickory Knob State Resort Park.
