South Carolina Lawmakers Will Debate Moving Confederate Flag

The South Carolina legislature voted Tuesday to allow debate this summer on moving a Confederate battle flag from the statehouse grounds. Lawmakers are in Columbia to work on a state budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1, but Governor Nikki Haley, the state’s U.S. Senators, and a number of other government and business leaders have called for lawmakers to remove the flag. The push to take down the flag comes in the wake of last week's shootings at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. 

Earlier in the day, hundreds of people gathered at the state capitol to ask lawmakers to take down the flag. WFAE's Tom Bullock talks with WFAE's Mark Rumsey about the day:
