Some Races Still Up In Air

Nov 9, 2006

The outcome of two close Mecklenburg County elections could hinge on the counting of provisional ballots from Tuesday's voting. Unofficial results show House Speaker Jim Black beat challenger Hal Jordan by just seven votes. Only 102 votes separate 3rd place At-large County Commission finisher Parks Helms and 4th place finisher Kaye McGarry. And the outcome of the 8th District Congressional race is also still uncertain. WFAE's Scott Graf called Michael Dickerson, director of Mecklenburg County's Board of Elections, to find out how provisional ballots will factor into the races.
