School Superintendent Drama Plays Out In NC Sandhills

It's not unusual for public school superintendents to quit or get fired, often following a relatively-short time on the job. Last fall, CMS Superintendent Heath Morrison resigned under pressure after less than three years in Charlotte.

But the recent drama involving the superintendent of the Moore County school district, in the North Carolina Sandhills, stands out. The school board fired Robert Grimesey last Thursday, only to rehire him Monday night. The turmoil led to the resignations of four Moore County school board members. John Nagy, editor of The Pilot newspaper in Southern Pines, has been following the drama and he spoke with WFAE's Mark Rumsey.

Mark Rumsey grew up in Kansas and got his first radio job at age 17 in the town of Abilene, where he announced easy-listening music played from vinyl record albums.
