Deaths from drug overdoses have spiked in North Carolina and around the nation. Here, overdoses are up 75 percent since 2002 and most of these are from prescription drugs. More People are now killed from opioid overdoses than car accidents. It's a public health crisis - an entirely preventable epidemic - being fueled by increasing numbers of painkiller prescriptions like OxyContin.
